Kitty, kitty, kitty!

We've started our kitty hunt, with the intention of having a pair of cats (so they aren't bored and lonely when no one is home. Also, they are probably going to get more exercise that way).

This is very, very good, since even though we met and played with a kitty on Saturday, I'm wicked restless due to lack of cat today.

Waiting to hear back about the kitty we already met (So. Much. Impatience.); getting set up to talk to a second kitty hopefully this weekend.

metahacker and I are going to make a cat tree because ones that are stable, reasonable size (cats really need to be able to stretch tall while sharpening their claws), and not entirely made out of rug are stupidly expensive. And only having one sharpening place seems unwise with two cats.

(the kitty we are looking to see this weekend: http://www.adoptapet.com/pet/9597639-somerville-massachusetts-cat)

Kitty, kitty, kitty!

Hopefully now I can focus on studying and organizing and other such things I need to do for school!

We actually were considering it. :)

However, we are also trying to be open to the possibility of FIV+ cats (for much the same reason), and two of the three of us want a black cat and the third wants to not have trouble differentiating between the two.

This makes things complicated!

Heh. Yes, a lot of factors to consider. Maybe one really huge black cat and one really tiny one? FIV+ bonded pair, of course. :)

Eee! Tortie!

Silly cat allergies. At least I get to visit cats. :)

Yay black kitty. Also, thank you for being willing to take an FIV+ cat, we had one for years, he was a great cat. After a few years the FIV test starting being negative, no idea why.

Our last cat was FIV+. At most, he might have gotten more colds than the cat I had before him. So yeah, FIV+ really isn't a huge deal.

Why were they repeatedly testing your boy for FIV?

(as far as black kitties, evidently they get adopted out less. So being black _and_ FIV+ is a problem!)

Our guy got the FIV from his mother and sometimes they manage to get it out of their system, it took 3 years I think. He only made it to 8 due to a heart issue but I am glad we had him.

Our current black cat (not an FIV+ cat)is 16. Someone at Arisia '97 had a leftover runt of the litter semi feral cat. She has become queen of the house.

My dad has constructed many a cat tree, no two alike in any significant way. Cats sat on all of them.

You might try advertising FOR such a pair (bonded, yes!). Some individual might have cats they'd like to re-home, but don't want to give to a shelter where the pair might be separated.

That sounds really exciting wisfox. Litter-mates are often a good idea if you're wanting two - not that I ever have done that, I've ended up introducing them and crossing my fingers! But siblings already play together. And yes, the company and stimulation of another cat really seems to make a difference, especially when they're young.

Good luck with KittyHunt2013; may it bring you more happiness than mine (since mine ended up with an unknowingly-sick kitty who died).

Aww! yes, I hope we have better luck than that.

Sorry you lost your kitty!
